The Grateful Heart: Yin & Restorative Yoga |
    with Melissa Carroll

Connect to the spirit of gratitude this season with a soothing, open-hearted Yin and Restorative Yoga class. This practice helps you cultivate inner peace, release tension, and improve flexibility.
The yoga poses are all seated or reclining and are held for two to five minutes with the muscles relaxed. We use props to support the body, making each pose accessible for all yogis. These long, patient, passive holds target the connective tissues in the body and can create wonderful sense of openness, well-being, and relaxation.

No experience necessary! Appropriate for all levels. Yin and Restorative Yoga are an excellent balance to more vigorous forms of yoga and exercise.

Melissa Carroll, E-RYT500, is a writer, Reiki Master, and lead teacher in the Yoga Teacher Training Program at The Lotus Pond Center. Melissa is the editor of Going OM: Real-Life Stories on and off the Yoga Mat. Learn more

    Our Philosophy

The name for our wellness center comes from a Kogi word. The Kogi Indians strive to preserve their culture today by living isolated from the rest of the world in the mountainous jungles of Colombia. They see themselves as the guardians of life on Earth and believe that it is their mission to care for our planet. Picture The concept of "Aluna" is central to their spiritual philosophy. The word means "pure potential" and "creation". We chose the name Aluna, to represent our belief in the same philosophy that we have the ability to create anything we desire in this life.
